AFTI Releases Statement On U.S. Suspension Of India’s Generalized System of Preferences

The Alliance for Fair Trade with India (AFTI) released the following statement concerning the U.S. government’s decision to suspend India’s Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) benefits:

“We regret that Indian officials failed to constructively engage with U.S. negotiators on the numerous serious trade challenges plaguing the bilateral relationship, leading to today’s decision. With the built-in lag of 60 days before these changes go into effect, India still has time to change course and make progress at the negotiation table before its trade benefits are impacted.”
